Simon is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor of Psychologists. Over 17 years he has helped hundreds of adults, adolescents, and children with various psychological problems/issues in individual, child & family, group, and couples counselling. Some as inpatients and outpatients in a psychiatric hospital (4 years) with complex presentations, drug and alcohol issues, anxiety, mood and personality disorders.
He has spent the last 15 years as the Clinical Director and Principal Psychologist of ST&A Psychology, a group practice in Sydney’s northern beaches with 7 Psychologists. He has supervised psychologists both in and outside of his practice for over 10 years focussing on Reflective Practice, ACT and CFT.
Simon runs workshops to educate and train GPs, psychologists, and other mental health professionals on the effective assessment and treatment of mental health issues/diagnoses. More recently (in the last 3 years) he has focussed his passion on training individuals and group private practices in 1 and 2 day workshops on “helping people well” and “Client Retention”.
He and his team are passionate about improving and maintaining excellent client retention rates, to enable improved treatment outcomes for people. By preventing clients from dropping out of therapy prematurely (before clients have done the work to get well, stay well and prevent relapsing into previous patterns of unhelpful behaviours/dysfunction or issues which they had previously learnt to manage better through therapy and new psychological skills learnt), clients are reporting improved outcomes from therapy and maintaining those improved outcomes at follow up. Over a period of 2 years he has helped his team improve their retention rates from 8 sessions per client, to 13, leading to more satisfied and confident clients, psychologists, admin staff, referrers, and less work.
